Stoke-on-Trent pupils improve thoughts around body image

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Spark to your Success was delighted to be invited into a Stoke-on-Trent school with Ruff and Ruby to inspire female pupils about improving their take on body image.

For two days in March Spark to your Success director TeeJay Dowe and Ruff and Ruby director Dawnie held the attention of 150 teenagers at Bentilee’s Discovery Academy.

This collaboration was a result of being part of the Stoke-on-Trent Youth Collective which was formed by Dawnie and is now over 70 members strong.

The 150 young girls now have a deeper understanding of the importance of having a positive body image, and the history behind the ever-changing ideal body image that society believes boys and girls should have.

Moving forward we are hoping the pupils will think about external factors that make them feel unhappy about themselves and put things into place such as positive affirmations, following body-positive influencers on social media or any of their own methods to help them feel more comfortable in their own skin.

As well as strengthening our relationship with Ruff & Ruby, we have created a new relationship with Discovery Academy and we are one step closer to reaching our goal of positively impacting the lives of 10 million young people.
